Accessibility statement
Last reviewed: August 2026.
We want everyone to be able to read this site and try its chess. Our target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and accessibility decisions are made at build time, not patched afterwards.
What we build to
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with visible focus at all times.
- The playable chessboard uses click-then-click moves — no dragging is ever required — and every square is a labelled button of at least 24×24 pixels.
- Outcomes on the board are announced to screen readers through a live region.
- Motion respects your system's reduced-motion setting; nothing auto-plays with sound.
- Body text meets or exceeds a 4.5:1 contrast ratio on both of the site's surfaces.
- The site honours forced-colors and high-contrast modes.
Known limitations
- Some decorative region colours appear only in rules, borders and large type, because they cannot meet body-text contrast on both surfaces.
- The two trailers carry no captions: they have no spoken dialogue, their information is shown as on-screen text, and each video element carries a full text description for screen readers.
