Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to read this site and try its chess. Our target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Accessibility features

• Every page works with a keyboard alone, with visible focus at all times.
• The playable chessboard uses click-then-click moves — no dragging is ever required — and every square is a labelled button of at least 24×24 pixels.
• Outcomes on the board are announced to screen readers through a live region.
• Motion respects your system's reduced-motion setting; nothing auto-plays with sound.
• The Motion button pauses decorative animation and background video. Your choice is saved on this device.
• Body text is designed to meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
• The site honours forced-colors and high-contrast modes.

Video alternatives

Both trailers have a version with spoken descriptions of the action and on-screen text, English captions, and a full written transcript. Open “Audio description and transcript” below either trailer. The descriptions use a computer voice, with the original music playing quietly underneath.

Testing

We check keyboard controls, text contrast, reduced motion, high-contrast mode and enlarged text in Chrome and Edge. Testing with every browser, device and screen reader is not yet complete.
